The first few chapters were honestly very eh to me. It had rape and I'm not a big fan of that tbh. The development felt weird to be because of that, but as I kept reading if got better. I kind of forgot those chapters happened by the end of Ch 24. Basically, if you can get past the first few chapters, it gets better. A lot better.
