I adored the story, nevertheless the ending was a disappointment for me. The fact that they didn't reach out to one another despite their deep feelings of love for one another left me feeling empty. I guess it has to have been 16 years for the nephew to be older but I'm quite displeased that they didn't contact each other. Well Trevor didn't know where Gene was, his address nothing, but Gene knew exactly where Travor is and still didn't reach out to him even once. Because of that the big love that you could've felt from them in throughout the story just felt not present in the ending. I'm upset that even after finishing the college and stuong in Europe Gene didn't bring himself to come back to Trevor. It felt as if they reunited only out of convenience because Gene was moving to NY.
Summarizing the ending left me feeling empty and now I've been crying for the past half an hour, even though it's supposedly a happy ending.
