This manhwa is so messed up on so many levels. The plot/story is good but holy shit, gotta be one of the most toxic relationships I'm reading right now. It's gotten to the point where I can't even sympathize with MC because the moment the seme raped him, he should have left immediately. Pretty good though

8/14/23 Newest update changed my view on this manhwa, so time to rewrite this review. Upon reading /Beware of the Full Moon in March/, you're thrust into the world of the police and crime. The main character is Nakwon, a seasoned investigator or something who is entitled, selfish, and generally a huge asshole. Right off the bat, he's hostile towards the main lead, an ex-convict under parole named Mokhwa, because he believes he has information about Mokhwa's boss that Mokhwa is withholding from the police. This "justifies" Nakwon's attitude and behavior towards Mokhwa. By behavior, I mean explicitly rape Mokhwa not once, but /twice/. Before the second season, it genuinely looks like Nakwon does not give a flying fuck what he had done to Mokhwa, and is completely ignorant (whether on purpose or not) of the torment and terror Mokhwa feels when he sees Nakwon. Because of the sexual assault, this manhwa will never be as good as it possibly could. A romanticized rape-to-romance will always never be okay. On the other hand, Nakwon is possibly the most well-written main character I've ever read out of all the manhwas I've read. Forget Dawn of the Dragon, Beware of the Full Moon in March takes the take for this. It's not just Nakwon, however. Each character, whether Mokhwa, customers of Mokhwa's flower shop, or Nakwon's coworkers and assistants, has their own personality that is easily distinguished and unique to themselves. Each line spoken is perfect to each character, to the point where it reads like an American blockbuster cop movie. I'm not so sure on the accuracy of how these thing work since I'm not a part of the police force, but with how each character talks, I wouldn't be surprised if they were legitimate conversations from actual police officers that the author had overheard at some point in their life. The plot of this manhwa is also genuinely some of the most interesting, sitting on the edge of my seat, type story. The author has done a wonderful job balancing the progression of the story while also making characters go through development and become a better version of themselves (at least, as well a yaoi could do it). The mystery surrounding Mokhwa and his past, just who the boss is, how Nakwon and the police are gonna catch the gang, and how each character will change is definitely something that keeps me reading this manhwa. Speaking of plot... After he had realized he had feelings for Mokhwa, Nakwon legitimately went through a 180 change. At first, it was a complete dick move. Buying food for Mokhwa every day as if it would somehow make Mokhwa forgive him, smashing his hand with his gun as if it would make Mokhwa pity him. It was all done to make Nakwon feel less guilty about it, and this being something he /acknowledges/ in chapter 48 is something I would have never expected. Even understanding that this is something that can never be undone nor forgiven for and that Mokhwa underplays just what crimes Nakwon had done to him is a sign of just how much Mokhwa has changed Nakwon, and a welcome sign at that. I will never forgive Nakwon for what he has done, but I look forward to seeing how he will redeem himself to Mokhwa. Also, Nakwon is so unironically funny. Strange how this manhwa of all yaois I've read is one of the funniest. There is so much I can talk about this manhwa. I need someone to talk about this with

If you could only read one PTJ work in your life time, THIS ONE is the one you would choose. Not How to Fight, not Lookism, not Manager Kim. IT'S SO GOOD, SO FUNNY, SO FUCKING REAL. An instant recommendation to anyone into the more violent manhwas.

Dropped @ ch65. Three chances was not the charm this time, clearly. The main character (Rix Vanus) has been raped more times than I can count with two hands and the relationship with the male lead (Nuah) has not even begun to develop. The author does nothing to address the assault Rix keeps getting, and although I understand that Nuah is new and doesn’t understand things, at least have him do some goddamn thing other than watch wide eyed while Rix is being forced to blow another guy off. Let’s say all the sexual assault didn’t happen. The relationship between Nuah and Rix is still really weird. Nuah is depicted to be super childish, almost baby-like with an innocence comparable to an infant. He’s the youngest of the spirit guardians or whatever they are, being 60 years old. Rix is 20 years old but acts 40. The author wrote in a special that calculating Nuah’s age in human years, he would actually be YOUNGER THAN RIX BY A LOT. Rix is 20!!! Yeah, Nuah is built as hell, but he acts like a fucking baby. It’s endearing if it weren’t a yaoi. The only thing that slightly makes it better is that Nuah is the Seme. And even then, their relationship is pushing it. TLDR: Rape and pseudo pedophilia.

Gyuwon is one of the sexiest main characters I've ever read. It pains me to see how he thinks himself as ugly when he's literally the best looking character in the manhwa. AND ALL THE O-FACES AND THE FUCKING OH MY FUCKING GOD I'M GONNA GO CRAZY The plot is so good. The story, character development, internal monologues and struggles. UGH. Novel adaptations are too good. THIS IS SO FUCKING GOOD 3/4/24 Post nut clarity Okay so as I'm rereading this, you really get a sense of how god awful Hwayoung is to Gyuwon, especially in chapters 60-63. Their relationship is far from healthy, in fact it's downright toxic and with how their dynamic is, Gyuwon and Hwayoung are only enabling each other (well, more like Gyuwon is enabling Hwayoung). Not to say Gyuwon is at fault here because he most definitely isn't as the victim, but his strange, unconditional love for Hwayoung definitely has some play in how Hwayoung treats Gyuwon. The main problem is Hwayoung. I'm sure their relationship is definitely different from the typical, but it's still lust-driven which usually means it's bound to fail. I'm not going to speak on sex because I don't know how BDSM works, but chapters 60-63 was downright IPV and manipulation. The chapter where Gyuwon was left in the dungeon alone, tied up and naked while Hwayoung decided to amble about, was entirely Hwayoung’s desire and in a sense, nonconsensual because it was made incredibly clear how Gyuwon hated it. The way Hwayoung treated Gyuwon like an object to be boasted about when he was having dinner with his friends was very icky. Even having sex with Gyuwon when Hwayoung was having a call with his friend... perhaps the author thinks it may be boring, I think it would be reassuring to see at least some semblance of discussion about their plays besides the /one/ instance where they finally discussed safe words. And also, when Hwayoung said he wanted to kill Gyuwon to keep him forever... and Gyuwon said you can kill me if you want... Gyuwon baby, please stand up... It pains me to see a relationship that was so sweet and sexy in the first two scores of chapters develop into something so abusive and toxic. The manhwa is still amazing, don't get me wrong. Gyuwon is amazing and incredibly cute, and the next season will finally go into his backstory. But his relationship with Hwayoung is absolutely terrible and should not be considered "normal", "healthy", or "sweet/adorable" in any way.

Boy oh boy where do I even begin. Sugimoto… honey, my pookie bear. I have loved you ever since I first laid eyes on you. The way you drive into the battlefield and strike fear into your enemies eyes. Your silky smooth touch gripping the bayonet's blade, and that gorgeous roar. I would do anything for you. On a more serious note, Golden Kamuy is, as its name states, golden. It truly is a golden manga in a world of coal and shit. There is no other manga where I have enjoyed reading about each character and truly learned to grow attached to them, besides Golden Kamuy. Satoru Noda's skill when it comes to worldbuilding, character development, and pure exhilaration is unmatched. Sure, I may be dick riding. But I'd gladly dick ride Golden Kamuy any time. To say this manga had me standing up in shock at moments is an understatement. My hands were behind my head, jaw on the floor, wondering how the hell this happened or what on earth is even going on. When the plot finally began coming together and the characters' backstories were all revealed to be connected, it was just... wow. Amazing. Of course, it's Golden Kamuy. It's bound to be a little weird. But that's what made it fun to read. Especially knowing that Satoru Noda has the same ideals I do. No pretty twinks in this bitch! Closest thing to it is Hijikata's younger self. Anyways, Golden Kamuy is just so good. I'm definitely going to be thinking about this manga for a long while, and I'm supposed to be studying for exams right now. Especially Ogata's downfall. Most satisfying chapter yet. I kind of wish Sugimoto died, but I suppose he doesn't have to lose all the time.
