this is an all-time favorite. The amount of times that I have reread this and looked at each line and just invested and ate it all up is crazy. I am so thankful that this exists because if it didn’t I don’t know where I would be. The rape incident in the beginning might not be for everybody and may stir you away, but don’t let it. The couple has amazing development and it’s so enjoyable to seem them recover together through trials!

Yup I’m re-reading again. Even with all the new BLs that are coming out. This will always have a place in my heart and a destination of return. However... little rant. This is a classic I read a few years back. However, I’m re-reading this and honestly I can’t figure out how I liked it so much. If it weren’t for nostalgia I would probably give this like a 3.5/3.7 ————— Both Fumi and Shunpei annoy me, especially Shunpei. I don’t like the way he talks; his dialogue throughout the story honestly upsets me [the way he says and uses the term “Homo”] and I guess I can let it slide a bit due to social norms back in the day and his lack of knowledge. Then Fumi... I honestly feel bad for him but at the same time his characteristics annoy me extremely. His constant lack of trust in the same guy he has a crush on for so many years..was so annoying. I can understand how he could feel insecure at times especially with Shunpei being someone who was obviously straight. However, Shunpei made it clear throughout the story that he liked him so him constantly not trusting him was honestly sad to see. It made me feel as though the two of them aren’t a long-lasting couple. The sister was also a huge turn off. Her role was obviously to allow some comedic relief and relatability (as she is a woman who reads BL). However in the end she just comes off as a fetishizer. How can you read BL and then be homophobic (referencing back to when she find out about the Shunpei and Fumi and what she says during & after it) ————— Finally the twos lack of communication was hecka annoying. Overall the whole purpose of this rant was it’s not as good as what I had thought it was. STILL GOING TO RE-READ NEXT YEAR.
