The mc is pure evil. He definitely has his reasons for becoming so twisted but given the chance to change everything, he chooses a path of hurting other and distancing himself to gain more power Gu has a similar energy dynamic as chinese cultivation. Gu users can use "tools" known as worms which have benefits like increased strength, defense, speed, or different attacks.

The MC is a straight up villain! You root for him because he is so insane
