Moonpie's manga / #yaoi(9)

This one just blows my mind. I was a bit hooked when it first started but found so much wrong. The amount of miscommunication between the main pairing is annoying and there is a running theme of the uke being sad and the seme being mad about something. Instead of talking, the seme simply slightly comforts him, doesn't try to reassure the uke of anything making him feel upset, then they have sex. That's it, that's their entire relationship. Oh but, it's all good cause the sex is good and the seme is a merman -_-. Anyway, this is by far the most irritating story I've read in a while so 1 star for me.

Super sweet, made me feel good. The couple was quite cute and I definitely recommend this one!

I have a lot of conflicting feelings about this one. When this was in it's early days, it felt like a completely different story, of course, it was mostly shounen ai so it makes sense. The author started leaning more into yaoi, which was fine but a lot of the stereotypes that stem from yaoi also started coming with it ╭(╯^╰)╮ the difference in body types, while not being anything new, was often distracting at times. The relationship between the two was good but Taesung too often initiated sex when Haebom was hesitant and often will act sulky until Haebom gives in. I'm not even sure where to start with the red haired guy. I dropped this for a bit so I didn't see the context but what in the hell led the author to think that adding in rape as a way to end off the guy's arc was okay??? I'm all for bad people getting what's coming but it seemed really out of touch for this story. This story has a big problem with keeping up with the genre it's in, going from shounen ai, to yaoi, to psychological???? I didn't feel much about this story by the end, which saddens me because a few years ago, I adored this story. Now, I'm disappointed. I think the story wasn't planned at some point and it was, it was given more spice but it all got mixed up. I'm glad others enjoyed it, but unfortunately, it completely missed the mark for me.

Ahead of it's time in this genre. it has it's flaws...the amount of dubious consent is...yeah. But compared to most older bl manga, it does a way better job for me. I love the couple's back and forth dynamic and the fact that the story focuses on their lives as well as their romance. A new favorite of mine!

I thought it was good but the ending left me wanting to see more chapters where they live life normally. Their insecurities felt like they needed more closure but that's just me, I think it would've been nice to have seen them continue to talk things through since they both come from past where they were hurting from feeling abandoned.

I thought this story had a lot of potential at first, the figure skater x athletic swimmer plot was a total win for me and I loved it, but then of course, as I see with many omegaverse stories, once pregnancy or sex is in anyway involved, for some reason, the characters just...become incompetent??? There were so many back and forth chapters that I went from being excited about new chapters to being exxasperated when seeing an update and hoping they'd make up correctly. Of course, when they did, they ended up effin' it up again so. I dunno. I'm gonna read the side stories which might give me more hope in their future but I doubt they'll go over what happened or even acknowledge it or have ACTUAL communication, just as I've seen with many other omegaverse stories I used to love *sigh*. Well, at least the babies cute, but I can only excuse so many comics for cute babies before I get really tired. The story was great but now it's mediocre at best and borderline cliche and stupid at worst. I think the author had a great plot but followed what most everyone does and it was a poor decision when this story could've taken advantage of an omega who didn't seem completely weak at first impression. Edit at Side Story #9: While I still have my gripes, I admit I really enjoy the side stories section, the mc continues to pursue their goal (which is often something that has to get dropped after an omega gives birth and it's always driven me nuts, so I'm glad) and the way the ml continues to help the mc find ways to co-parent and even take on more as the mc starts to get busier is really sweet to me. The baby needs no long explanation, he's just here and I honestly love him so much, I want to squish him, he is so cute. Overall, right now my rating has been improved by a star ^w^, we'll see if it'll continue to build communicative relationships and greater character development.

The relationship is a major power imbalance and although they make up in the end, I still feel weird about it all. I read it the whole way through only because I needed the closure but I just do not feel right about it. I don't think I ever will. Probably don't recommend.
