The whole thing is a mess. I was less than 10 chapters in when I couldn’t take it anymore. The FL’s motivation is simply just “I don’t wanna leave” and she elicits the help of the local fckboi who we are supposed to accept is the male lead. She goes and ruins his reputation, or what’s left of it anyway, when he refuses to help her. Lastly he doesn’t have any redeeming qualities either, he isn’t some decorated warrior or kindhearted soul. This pair is a match made in the same formula that made ketchup and popcorn a thing. Dropped. Goodluck reading it.

Regrettably, I have to say this to a lot of you but the Emperor is not a “douchebag”, he was clearly blinded by “love” and refused to hear any sound reason because he loved Phelps. But we see him change after learning more of the truth, he’s powerless as an Emperor if his court is in turmoil. I admit he’s not trying enough to learn more of the Empress and she should in turn put more effort into knowing him better but let’s not forget the fact that he has her family killed in her alternate life. She’s suffered two very traumatic experiences and we can’t really fault the Empress for wanting to get rid of Phelps as quickly as possible. Please stop calling them weak

No, but you see— THIS IS THE ANSWER I DESPERATELY WANTED after reading hundreds of stories like this! This is refreshing! Cayena is smart and knows her place and to what extent she can do things. She’s not blind to other’s feelings and knows Rezef can improve instead of thinking of him as a villain throughout, she’s willing to change him. And her relationship with her father is awkward but realistic. The men so far haven’t been annoying at all, they’re easy to understand. I love this so much!
