Sleeps In Sunbeams's manga / #Based on a novel(3)

Having read the novel “Without Reservations” when it was first released and loving it, I was naturally thrilled to see a manga adaptation. I thought that the mangaka did a great job bringing these characters to a new format and I really enjoyed the banter, romance and humour that was kept so well. It would be amazing to see Jake and Remy’s story, but for now I am really happy with this.

Based on Mary Calmes, “All Kinds of Tied Down” novel, the first in the Marshals series. Deputy US Marshal Miro Jones has a reputation for being calm and collected under fire. These traits serve him well with his hotshot partner, Ian Doyle, the kind of guy who can start a fight in an empty room. In the past three years of their life-and-death job, they've gone from strangers to professional coworkers to devoted teammates and best friends. Miro’s cultivated blind faith in the man who has his back… faith and something more. As a marshal and a soldier, Ian’s expected to lead. But the power and control that brings Ian success and fulfillment in the field isn't working anywhere else. Ian’s always resisted all kinds of tied down, but having no home—and no one to come home to—is slowly eating him up inside. Over time, Ian has grudgingly accepted that going anywhere without his partner simply doesn't work. Now Miro just has to convince him that getting tangled up in heartstrings isn't being tied down at all.

Completed story Opinion: Thoroughly loved the relationship between a powerful couple with great communication. Rushed ending was a let down though. Main couple: 10/10 FL: 10/10 - Sienna Argent. Beautiful and powerful. Went from being a hothouse flower to a woman of heart and insight. ML: 10/10 - Kuhn Raad. A formidable man of many faces who was putty in the hands of the woman he loved. Story/Concept: Royal heir/Divine being x Kingmaker/warrior/rogue. The shining heart of this story was the dynamic between the MCs. There was respect for each other and the burdens of their roles and a truly wonderful ability to communicate well. Their problems were all external, each was able to manage independently but together they were something special. They never had a breakdown in their ability to talk things through, and each was sweetly vulnerable to the other yet also strengthened by them. Tropes: Stolen moments. Political intrigue. First time. Protective lover. Ending: VERY rushed, yet sweet and happy. Art: Pretty and full colour. Lost points towards the end was less effort. Smut: Implied only. Romantic overtones. Read novel for real smut.
