There were some truly sweet, romantic exchanges in these stories

Himitsu no Love Sensation

Fluffy feelings and loads of giggles, these 2 connected stories were so cute!

Koi ni Naru Mae ni

Complete | Sakura rico | 2019 released

I liked the first story but it felt seriously incomplete. We didn’t even get to see him wearing the clothes designed just for him. Would they be women’s clothes or men’s or mixed or androgynous? I liked the blushing cop and photographer story a lot as the two guys were adorably shy but so obviously onto each other. It would be nice to see more on them but that ending was still sweet and full of promise.

Bokura no Katakoi Melancholy

Sign me up to sit in those classes! The male teachers were such a close group of likeable and/or attractive guys that they almost distracted from the MCs. Fortunately, Seta sensei and Kanei were entertaining and cute too. It was a slow turn around for Kanei to see his old art sensei in a new light and the ex meddling was a bit of a nightmare. I would have liked a little more mutual chemistry between the MCs (not just sex but some desire at least). They managed to stay platonic for the 4 months but they did seem to be more friendly. Kanei’s outburst near the end took me by surprise and it made him falling for sensei a tad difficult to understand. Still,I am glad they seem to be happy. Fingers crossed for a biology x math teacher spin off soon.

Gone with the bubbles

Beautifully drawn art gave this story such a boost, especially the moments we got to see Eunwoo as a merman. Despite that however, I struggled a lot with loving the story. Eunwoo was the first merman bound under a family curse that usually fell to the first female in the generation. If he fell in love and that feeling was reciprocated he was cursed to turn to pearls and return to sea foam or rip the heart out of the one he loves to survive. Sadly for this guy, his whole life has pretty much been dedicated to longing for his childhood best friend, Taeho. I say sadly because despite being tied to the merman as a descendant of the shaman of the past, and fully being aware of the curse and his friends feelings; despite promising to be by Eunwoo‘s side forever, Taeho lived a selfish, self centred existence and consistently hurt Eunwoo deeply. Nearly all of Eunwoo‘s memories of their time together (especially past early childhood) were sad ones. Taeho would sleep with anyone, male or female, and hurt them too. He would have these relationships in clear sight of Eunwoo knowing his friends feelings. At first, I thought it was because he loved Eunwoo and wanted to keep him safe, but he only realised his feelings at the end. Sure, there may have been an element of looking after Eunwoo because he drove away any feelings of love, but it mostly seemed to be from self preservation. He was told that his fate was tied to Eunwo’s so he was happy to keep Eunwoo and therefore himself alive. I don’t like selfish lovers, irrespective of any grand gestures at the end. I fail to understand loving a selfish man who makes you cry and deliberately keeps you from love. It was simply not my thing. I would rather Eunwoo end up with the vice principal (who got treated shabbily btw) who was a kind man. Still, the epilogue was all fluffy feelings and love and HEA. But it was like a rose on a pile of manure for me, simply because Taeho was not a likeable lover I could respect. Sorry to those who enjoyed the story, I really tried and read every page hoping for Taeho to be redeemed. Alas, not for me :(

You Make It Too Easy

New teachers Mr. Murakami (maths) and Mr. Sasakawa (history) have started their jobs at the same high school. The outgoing and friendly Mr. Murakami is instantly attracted to the beautiful Mr. Sasakawa. After celebrating with their fellow teachers with some after school drinks Mr. Murakami is unable to resist the temptation of an unguarded and tipsy Mr. Sasakawa. So begins their bumpy ride to love. I loved both MCs, especially the gentle ruthlessness of Mr. Murakami and how frustrated he could become over Mr. Sasakawa’s cuteness. Another really lovely story by this talented mangaka.

Shinmaikyoushi no Otoshikata

Complete | Ima yasaki | 2019 released

Falling for a father and son. New math teacher Ichinose sensei can’t choose between his colleague and his student. That’s going to mean twice the temptation and twice the satisfaction having two men whose focus is all on one virgin teacher. This is a guilty pleasure taboo story that was fun to read. There were no incestuous touches to make things awkward (well.. more awkward). This 3P story had full focus on Ichinose.

Sensei Datteyarashii Koto Shitai

Complete | Ushino | 2000 released

25yo playboy Ren, has given up on his career as a musician in order to take up the responsibility of teaching at his family’s kindergarten. The adjustment is made easier by the presence of fellow teacher, the earnestly serious and attractive Kiichi-kun, although the two got off to an awkward start. This cute story is full of sweet moments. I liked the dad, he was obviously someone Ren rebelled from but he was surprisingly understanding and accepting of his son. Lovely art too, this was a great little yaoi.

When The Cicadas Stop Crying Webtoon

Complete | Bopul | 2019 released

A sweet age gap story about unrequited love and looking in a new direction. With MCs Namwoo (teacher, older, unrequited love with best friend since childhood) and Yeoreum (new PE teacher, young, puppy like, muscled) it’s going to take a few seasons to blossom their new, awkward friendship (on Namwoo’s side) into love.

Manazashi No Hayagane

Complete | kakine | 2010 released

Two student teachers find love. The first with his former sensei who encouraged him to be true to himself. The second with a prickly tempered man who found himself bewildered by the sunny spirited and social young sensei. I probably liked the second couple more, but both stories were sweet reads.
