NugInABox's manga / #Guardian Seme x Child-like Uke(1)

Kingyo no Ubugoe

Complete | Gontaku Nido | 2000 released

Surprisingly good. I usually avoid psychological/tragedy tag, bcs in general the vibe can be angsty and depressive, this one I actually like. The implied incest is OK for me, it's not like we haven't seen incest in many bl trope. Despite the depiction of did, this is definitely NOT a learning material for any kind of mental illness, manga is intended to be entertainment and should be treated as such. All in all I enjoyed reading this and the art is niiice I understand that Yuki and Yuuta are the same person BUT I feel like it's quite wrong when the author illustrates Tomohisa having it with Yuki. It looks even more wrong when the author tries to illustrate Tomohisa & Yuuta are parents and Yuki is the child. It feels like he's having it with his son(?) which gives me a bitter aftertaste. I think the storyline should be: After Tomohisa saved Yuuta -> he went straight to the closest hospital or clinic (so Yuuta can be diagnosed) -> Tomohisa are well aware Yuuta isn't "Yuuta" -> Tomohisa treat Yuuta, the one now "Yuki" suitable with his mental age (as a child) -> no romantic relationship involved (just a platonic love as a father and son) -> (continue with the original plot, Yutaa trigger) -> confession and Tomohisa finally look at Yuuta as a lover The last conversation seems off to me too. Yuuki and Tomohisa talk to Yuki as a child, so I don't think it's appropriate to make the conversation goes --------------------------------------------------------------------- "I think I like girls" "Yuki is straight?!" "Are you alright, who doesn't have to do it with ME, y'know?" "No! Yuki only want to do dirty thing with Tonohisa!" it sounds like incest, tbh. --------------------------------------------------------------------- whatever is the reason, that dialogue gave me mixed feelings but this is just my opinion. I don't have DID nor did I have a close member with DID. I think the story can receive an infinite star rating if this series accurately represents DID. The reader can also gain new knowledge about DID without making any wrong assumptions.
