Mikodami's manga / #Slapstick(15)

Originally, I planned to give the manga a two star rating, meaning on my scale: "Definitely won't read it again" for the longest time. In the beginning it's just a childish, mildly annoying story about a more or less normal high-school girl surrounded by morons, idiots and lunatics. The humour is of the cheap slapstick quality and the story is really far-fetched boarding on ridiculous. However, the story suddenly turns much more mature and the gags much better in the later parts. The last volume especially is a true surprise, because here at last, even the bigger lunatics start to act as real characters when faced with real-life problems. At one moment I almost felt like crying, the story is suddenly this deeply emotional. So the whole work ends up receiving three stars ("Probably won't read again") but misses four stars ("Will read again, if I don't find anything better") only, because the earlier parts were so bad. As an additional bonus, the three special stories have nothing to do with the main story, and are much better than the earlier parts of it. So make sure, you read at least these extra stories, even if you don't have the stamina to read through the main story. Of course, you might be into slapstick. Then you will probably have no problem at all reading the story in the first place and your evaluation will turn out completely different. Although then, you might not like the last volume. Just saying... ^_^

Well, theoretically this story idea is good and it might have been an interesting manga. But! The buildup is silly, the main part is lame and the resolution is grotesquely ridiculous. Sorry, but I just don't understand how people can think of this manga as funny. Funny is something with decent humor. This is just aggravating slapstick to me.

Well, it's not that bad. It's kind of over the top silly sometimes. But then, it's mostly pretty funny and sweet. The first year is better than the second one, though. Be prepared to see a lot of panty flashing and boob bouncing but not really to a point to be completely annoying. AND, it's NOT finished/completed yet.

What the heck was this?

Sweet but too silly for my taste.

The whole setup is just ridiculous. A 17 years old, totally foreign girl, by chance starts to live with a 13 years old boy who just happens to live alone in his house. That is so implausible that it's funny again. And it's not just the beginning. All of this story is just hilarious. But, at the same time, it's also a very sweet love story. A love overcoming the barriers of time and space so to speak.

Nothing for me. Too silly.

Strange story getting stranger and stranger. It has some very funny moments. But mostly, it's only silly slapstick.

Oh well. Cheap slapstick. Mostly. Some jokes are actually funny, though. Not a lot of story, just a few more or less unconnected episodes. No real character development either. At least the artwork is decent.
