Ming qi, Shi yi, and Bai ming came from one orphanage. Ming qi was always too nice and taken advantage of. Shi yi was unapproachable, but softhearted. Bai ming was a bully, envious yet becomes an irreplaceable friend. The three may have been adopted separately, but they remain close and understanding of each other's burden. A friendship that exceeds blood relations. [Thought provoking. Heartwarming.]

It's a mix of being overly complicated (especially the politics) and some arcs are unnatural or forced because some characterizations are bent and broken for the arc to fit into the story.
