Wolf In The House

Complete | park ji-yeon | 2000 released

the supernatural aspect of it develops well and the author balanced heavy themes with comedic drawing styles or casual scenes. you'll be able to witness three couples with different yet harmonic relationships that tie them together. the main couple has a casual romantic relationship, the second uncovers mafia related action, while the third dwells on the separation of human and werewolf. it is a satisfying read because there arent loose ends and the plot does not stray away even if there are 3 stories weaved together. it's also a plus that the author could draw sensual sex scenes, really feeling how they're e treating each other tenderly and lovingly.

Blood Bank

Complete | silb | 2015 released

The overall concept is amazing! Although, the execution is somewhat disorganize and chaotic, the message surfaces. The art is pleasing and fitting to the concept of apocalypse and supernatural. The conclusion is also promising because it opens a new story instead of capping it off. I'm a little disappointed that Eric's identity stopped at acceptance but i guess everyone's identity in the story showed enough to keep the theme vampire x human going. I was expecting his identity to be more flambouyant, but the author did great at keeping it more of a subtle and invisible trait that is helping the world adjust to a new system of equity. bottomline: this is more of a societal documentary that included key people's love story.

the flow of dialogue is confusing and even the plot is all the place. the author made an ambitious attempt to blend sherlock holmes with a distinct storyline that does not match. it may look like it's well blended because their lives intertwine but it doesnt because the story of xiaowei, xaiofeng, xiao, and mi sheng could stand on its own.

Parasite

some infos are inconsistent and redundant. The author tried to be obscure many times, especially about the emotions of Shinichi or the epiphanies that some parasites think of. The end was... okay, I guess? so migi decides to be dormant but still a ‘helping hand’. Shinichi learns to mind his own business because he’s just one man who doesnt have the power nor the ‘right’ to choose if a parasyte deserves to live or not. The lecture which the mother parasyte went to helps me understand human nature as well as how the parasytes learned to co exist with humans. Our altruistic characteristics make us think of our ‘small family’ and sacrifice ourselves for them because our life is given value by their existence (which is why the mother protected her human baby and gave it to Shinichi). That is self preservation anchored on someone or something else. Then there is self preservation anchored on our body, where we feed on power and greed to be on top of the food chain. These two are mere types of self preservation but our standard of morality makes the former ‘self-less’ and the latter ‘selfish’. We consider murder and other ‘crimes against humanity’ immoral because they endanger our self and those whom we attach our self to. That’s my two cents anyway. Overall, it is a good read.

At the End of the Road

Complete | Haribo | 2016 released

1. The pacing for the plot is nice, each of the panels matter to the story. 2.I'm sad that Siwon was treated as anotber body and tool for the plot to keep rolling. He was raped goddammit. 3. I feel sad that I didnt get to see more of Taemin's actual body 4. I'm conflicted with Minjoo (?) because on one hand he was true to his words but on the other he made Taemin go around circles. Still, if he didn't, Taemin would have kept running away so I'm glad that the author really made a strong foundation for Taemin's character. Actually, most of the characters have solid personalities and each of their actions and words match "who" they are. It's only Siwon that I feel bad about because he was really made into a tool. I couldn't even get a good grasp of who he is except that he cares about his relationship with his twin. Besides, for a smart person and "likeable" person like Siwon and with the CDs going around, wouldn't he have earned more pity than have people bully him (ok fine, being bullied is not improbable) and if they were so rich, the parents wouldve known about the CD and know that he was raped. Siwon was written as a loser and was treated as such that it somehow contradicted the likeable and "stole everything from me" twin.

5 Seconds

Complete | Sachimo | 2000 released

The stories after the main story took me off guard. Tbh, these are the themes Im somewhat comfortable thinking about or writing about. but somehow, im uncomfortable reading them, especially when i dont intend to read them. Mutliple stories are really like stepping into a landmine

Raising a Bat

Complete | Jade | 2015 released

the lack of communication occurs 70% of the time and i witnessed agonizing push and pull between the characters. im glad that even when Mingweon was emotionally compromised and ran away, he was anchored by his lover, lover's family, and sister. Most of the characters are problematic but the author does not romanticize them. the author shows just how difficult it is for a relationship to last when there is no communication and trust. and i like that about this. it showed character development, realistic concerns, and growth.

Talk about compact and cohesive ️ There are a few details glossed over but they dont have a that big of a role expect for fillers or spice. After reading long stories with unnecessary complicated details, this is very satisfying.

Meeting him

Complete | Yu-ael | 2017 released

It's rather incomplete. This sounds more of a prologue than a complete story especially since it's titled "Meeting Him". You'll be left wondering where Myung is, where Shiwoon's brother is, why Myung's last letter foreshadowed Jun's transportation to the modern world and so on. You'll basically just know how they met... Sigh...
