Overdose

Complete | kawai touko | 2005 released

I know... I read the comments and I already expected to hate it but I still went ahead to read it thinking that maybe the commenters just missed some things or what... I can more or less get what went in the seme's head as he cheated, but it doesn't excuse his behavior. Same with the uke. So he forgives his affairs because he's overwhelmed by the fact that despite being a straight playboy, the seme agreed to date him. That in itself as very rewarding for him because he can still somehow be with the seme... Well, thinking about it now, more than cheating/affair, it has actually come to a point where it is an open relationship, though only on the seme's side. This is because the uke is obviously aware of it and tolerates it. There are times when he thinks he wants to possess him exclusively but knows he can't actually do that so he just goes along. This way, I can view it as a forced open relationship. It's very easy to hate the seme in this case, but I won't tolerate the uke either. I had hopes for him when he finally decided to break up, though using another guy's feelings to be in a rebound relationship is sly, but when he ditched the new guy to come back to the seme because he saw him suffering, whoah. Okay, so that may look very romantic, saying, wow, even though he's with someone new, he just couldn't ignore the seme. He really does still have feelings for him. Well, duh. He tolerated a year worth of affairs clearly showing he's in love (trans: obsessed) with the seme. Ughhhh. Well, as for Gou, he was okay to me at first, but thinking about it more clearly, I don't particularly like him either.. What, talking bad about the uke's lover (even though it's true) and praising himself to make him look good to the uke, but when it comes to it, his feelings are very superficial. I also don't like it when a couple is in conflict and a "nice guy/girl" talks it out with one of them and low-key seducing them. Of course, the final decision to be seduced is still up to that person, but it's just annoying how they're seen as nice people when they're actually manipulating as well. Ahh, so at first I wanted to give it a 1 "I don't like it" star, but decided to settle with 2 "It's ok" star. My actual rating is perhaps 1.5 stars. Of course, I don't like how the characters were depicted and how the story went, but I kind of picked up some things and it made me think so I'll give it a credit. Besides, after reading Colleen Hoover's "It Ends with Us," I simply want to understand the abused/submissive party deeper.
