MANGAreader's manga / #Shounen ai(4)

Back to School

Complete | Oryu | 2019 released

This was a such a good story and the relationship between the three main characters was so interesting. The art was really beautiful and eventhough there were no sex scenes, I was very satisfied by the tension between the characters and the atmosphere of the manhwa. I am glad that the uke ended up with the younger seme and the ending was just beautiful. The last encounter between the uke and the ex-friend/boyfriend was very emotional and the ending kiss was amazing and left me feeling satisfied. I cannot wait for the extras so I can see the aftermath of the story and hopefully everyone gets a happy ending.

At the End of the Road

Complete | Haribo | 2016 released

This was such a good read and the body swap concept was perfectly done. I am happy that everything turned out great at the end for the main characters but I was also left with so many questions that were not answered. For example, what happened between Joohoon and the twin brother at the end, what about Woojin's family and his mother, etc. It was the author's first work so it is understandable why all plot holes were not fixed but I enjoyed it regardless. I really felt bad for original Jiwon because he died when he wasn't at fault and too bad that we didn't see the twin brother pay for it. I really liked the art of the manhwa and especially their eyeballs which were the same colour as their skin which made it look more beautiful. I believe that adding some sexy scenes would have made it even better since I was looking forward to it so much but there was nothing even in the extras so I was a bit dissapointed.

Moritat

Complete | Lee Seon-ui | 2000 released

This story was a rollercoaster ride. There are so many twists and turns that all I am left with at the end is confusion. It certainly had an interesting premise but the execution was not very well done as it felt very rushed. It was also very complex, which can be the strength of a story like this but here it had more of a negative meaning to it because it over-complicated a lot of stuff. The relationship and the dynamic between the two main characters is pretty good as it is not a typical romantic relationship but something with much more depth to it, however, as I said before, it left me more confused at the end as I expected to get a an understanding at the end. However, I didn't and that leaves me with unsatisfied feeling rather than getting satisfied at the end when all the puzzle pieces come together in a story, especially this one where there are many layers of mystery to the story. Overall, I think it is interesting but I wouldn't read it again even if I didn't fully understand what happened because I don't really care anyway since I did not get attached to the characters in this at all. They were interesting but I did not care if they got together at the end or not. Also, there could've been more explicit sex scenes when the seme and uke are so hot but they weren't, which is a shame.

Doukyuusei (NAKAMURA Asumiko)

Complete | nakamura asumiko | 2006 released

Wow I really really love this manga. It's so adorable and a realistic portrayel of normal wholesome relationship. It's not that I have anything against the dark yaoi stuff, in fact I love it, but it's nice to get a break from that stuff with something sweet like this. The movie is also the best bl anime adaptation in my opinion because it enhances the stuff from the manga and perfectly captures its emotions. I am also completely in love with the author's art style and the bright colours in the movie are great too. I really didn't like the teacher in the movie but reading his side of the story I kind of felt sorry for him but hopefully he will find someone who loves him. I am just so glad everything turned out great for the two and thankfully the guy was understanding of the other guy who wanted to go to a university far away. It is just so wholesome and makes me believe in love.
