Summary
The following content is intended for mature audiences and may contain sexual themes, gore, violence and/or strong language. Discretion is advised.
Two years ago, Baek Sanghee (Ji Geonoh) caused a stir due to a mutual assault incident with a fellow actor and enlisted in the military as soon as the matter was settled. Even after his discharge, public opinion remained unfavorable, his contract with his previous agency was terminated, and his debts from penalties continued to grow. With Baek Sanghee himself lacking the will to make a comeback and no one seeking him out, a return to the entertainment industry seemed unlikely. At that moment, a newly established agency, SSIN Entertainment, proposed an exclusive contract with unprecedented terms.
“The principal is 1.4 billion won, with 1.13 billion won in interest accrued over two years and three months. Of that, 780 million won has been repaid, leaving a remaining debt of 1.75 billion won.” Seo Hanyeol tossed the documents he had been reviewing onto the table. “Let’s use that 1.75 billion won as Mr. Ji Geonoh’s signing bonus.”
A sudden laugh burst from Baek Sanghee. Seo Hanyeol watched him curiously, a smirk spreading across his own face. “Why are you laughing?”
“I was wondering if you’re starting a charity instead of an entertainment company.”
“You came here knowing full well, didn’t you? That I’m the only one who’d throw that kind of money at you right now.”
“Still, I didn’t expect you’d treat me this generously.”
“If you think this treatment is generous, you should also consider how harsh the alternative would be.”
Seo Hanyeol, the CEO of SSIN Entertainment, who cleared Baek Sanghee’s massive debt in one fell swoop under the guise of a signing bonus, was actually someone who had become a sort of non-biological brother to Baek Sanghee long ago due to their parents’ remarriage. The relationship between the two, which had been fraught since their high school days, became steeped in a complex mix of affection and resentment over the course of ten years. From their first meeting, Seo Hanyeol showed an unusual interest in Baek Sanghee and eventually offered to be his sponsor.
