Moon Sanyeol, an apothecary running a small herbal shop on the outskirts of Hanyang, receives a request. In exchange for a large sum of money, he is to obtain a rare ingredient known as the “Serpent’s Horn”—a substance said to make infertile women conceive.
Having long been worn down by poverty and dreaming of sudden wealth, Sanyeol eagerly scours Yeongsan Mountain high and low.
At last, he finds a serpent’s den.
But his brief moment of triumph is cut short—
a chilling presence creeps up behind him.
“How vulgar. Do you desire to carry a child that badly?”
The owner of the voice reveals himself: Lee Hwan, a hornless serpent who despises humans.
Panicked, Sanyeol tries to salvage the situation, but before he can even offer an excuse, he is slammed to the ground.
“You’ll only get one chance… so try your best to take it.”
Hwan climbs over him, his crimson eyes glinting with something eerie.
