A wayward opinion, but I prefer dub. It feels like I can pay more attention to the characters and story when my eyes aren't glued to the bottom of the screen. It gives me a chance to appreciate the art and animation quality that I can't mentally process when my mind is preoccupied with reading comprehension. reply
I love both, but I prefer dub, unless it’s really bad. and I mean stiff, voice doesn’t match, cringe bad lmao. But It’s only like the older ones, maybe 2000 to 2008? But something like the older devilman: crybaby where he goes “I’m devilman!” Sounding as if he’s a pubescent boy who thought he had electric powers but didn’t know he j...... reply
I generally prefer subtitles. I am a fast reader so I have no problem keeping up. Subs are also usually are available long before dubs. Another reason is I've found the voice acting in dubs to generally be terrible. Even if the voices are good if I'm rewatching an anime that I had watched before with subs it just sounds wrong. reply
Sub. I remember in an anime with ghosts, the protagonist said something so shocking, in dub. It was an anime that somehow got aired in dub. The protag (girl) said "Even if you're black .... we will still love you!" (dub) reply
I prefer dub since I don't mind how they sound and would like to avoid reading but I don't mind sub. I watch sub if it's ahead of the dub, no dub is available or what they are saying doesn't match up with the animation in dub. 1 reply
