I highly recommend immersing yourself in the language what ways you can. Specifically, immerse yourself in ways that involve as many senses as possible. Subbed anime is a great way to do this. I am fluent in Mandarin Chinese. I can read without many problems, but writing trips me up. I can write basic sentences, but I will at least need a Chinese dictionary to search for words from memory.

Honestly I am fluent in Japanese ( English is my second language) , but because of money being really tight (I am a college student) I have not been able to buy manga, ( but I do read on Japanese manga websites that give you some chapters of the manga to read, I also plan to start buying on the kindle once I get one..
