Debate - help me -_-

I signed up for debate for my sophomore year in high school (I’m currently a freshman btw). If anyone as ever taken debate tell me how it is. Is it fun? Is it stressful? Is it boring? I’m not really interested in debate or anything like that. I actually want to be a doctor. I’m just doing it cause it looks good on college applications. Does anyone have any tips to get over stage fright and become better at public speaking? But anyways if you’ve been or are in debate let me know how it is. (〜￣△￣)〜
