I think it's because more children have access to the Internet than like five years ago. I didn't even know about Webtoons until a few years ago to be honest, but I didn't start reading shounen ai until I was 15 and I still don't really read yaoi cuz I ain't an adult. ╮(￣▽￣)╭ 2 reply
It's "normal," but I don't think it's a good thing. I don't necessarily regret reading yaoi at age 13, but I do miss my innocence. Before I exposed myself to this shit, I had a "purer," less sexist view of people. I basically saw girls and guys the same way, and I could watch both shounen and shoujo without batting an eye. I discovered what was Shounen Ai when I was 11 because of Yuri on Ice, then eventually I found out about Yaoi, only got into it when I turned 13 though.
Nowadays it's pretty easy to find things on internet ╮(￣▽￣)╭
But of course, there's some yaoi which are really really really heavy that shouldn't be read by kids reply
