Love Letter

The young female teacher I was closest to all throughout high school revealed to me on the last day of 12th grade that she thought the whole time that I was not only a closeted, confused lesbian, but that I had a secret crush on her and was waiting for a reply all this time. She was my Spanish teacher all 4 years and in 9th grade, we had an assignment that involved writing a creative letter to a made-up classmate. I wrote a random love letter and signed it 'Secret Admirer', but it was late, so I drop it on top of some folders on her desk when she wasn't there. Apparently she hadn't made the connection that it was the overdue assignment and instead starting thinking that my fondess of her was because of a crush. In her words, the situation was "eating her up" and she freaked out about it for a whole year, wondering whether she should talk to my parents or give me a reply. Eventually, she realized and admitted it to me during class and I've never been so shocked in my life, but the rest of the students listening admitted that they thought that SHE had a mini crush on ME instead, since she always went on about how much she loved me and how she was gonna name her next daughter after me. What a mess.
