San Francisco Trip

Scooby Doo Scooby Doo 2016-05-06 20:10:12 About travelled somewhere new
The best thing I've done all year is go to San Francisco for Spring break. It has been a while since then but I felt the need to write about it now. It was practically unplanned, but I just felt the need to get away for a while, so one friday I bought Greyhound tickets and on Sunday after work I hopped on the bus and went north. I traveled through cities and towns that I'd never heard of on the way, and as I crossed the bridge from Oakland to San Fran it was the greatest thing ever. The city itself had such tall building, made almost entirely of glass, and the crosswalks! You didn't even have to press buttons for the crosswalks, lol. There were buses that took you just about anywhere even though it was all pretty much in walking distance (at least for me it was), and there were so many people going in all directions, walking and driving.

I found a cheap hotel that was on the border of Chinatown and Little Italy (I opted to explore Chinatown) and I wandered around for a while. It was all just "ooooh" and "aaahhh", people speaking Mandarin or Cantonese, restuarants lined up the street featuring food from different provinces (Sichuan, Hunan, even Beijing).

Later that evening, I found a nice restaurant. The servers were sooo nice, the food was especially great! My server was pretty handsome (hahaha) and the tea was just wow. I don't even know how to describe it. So smooth and strong tasting. They had the Peking Duck, which I REALLY wanted to try, but I opted for something less "imperial", haha.

I explored Little Italy that night, too, and the lights of the city were very pretty. Everything at night has a different feel. The fast paced, busy and conservative feeling of the day is replaced by this more laid back, loose and almost foreboding feeling, but it felt so fun, too.

The next few days were just more exploring, and I tried to blend in (even though I looked like such a tourists because I took pictures of everything, haha). I went to this bookstore calles City Lights up the street. It had a magical aura to it, the type that was hard to find in places like Barnes and Noble. Everything smelled of new books! Just shelves and shelves of this new book smell!

Going back home was also nice, as I passed through a rural area I took a bunch of pictures of the landscape and windmills. Everything about it was beautiful and awesome.

(For some reason photos are not showing up... boo!)

Did you just go alone? That sounds amazing!
