Gays, if you could change one thing about Yaoi/Yuri, what would it be?
As a lesbian, I love it when I read a good GL, but sometimes there are things that still urk me when I read them. That being said, as an avid BL reader, I'm sure there's a lot of gays that feel the same way about BL. So I want to ask Fellow Gay and Lesbians if there's one thing they'd want to change about Yaoi and Yuri, besides the whole fetishization, which everyone wants to be changed. So what would it be for you? Mine would be the fact that in a lot of yuri manga, if it isn't ecchi, the romance elements in the manga can often be vague or not really there to the point where the reader can argue that it more of a strong friendship than romance. I have more like, the where the one of the characters confessing their love to a person of the same sex is played as a joke even in GL and BL, and everyone is supposed to be shocked by it. That being said, I'd like to hear all of your opinions as well! Also! Feel free to add your gripes as say, a Bisexual with your gripes about your portrayal in manga as well, along with other sexual identities ^^
Hmm... Maybe the sexual harrasement? I mean, I saw that often in yaoi where someone get rape etc but get forgiven easily? I really don't understand that logic, and they got together in the end like, the fuck?!????? 2 reply

Those mangas should acknowledge that here are many other sexual identities too, as a pansexual person I cant help but perceive it as an insult, it's like we a...... 3 reply
The Idea Of Romanticizing Abusive Relationships, Sexual Harassment, And Rape. Most The Time Authors Portray Rape, Abuse, And Sexual Harassment As The Characters Showing Their Love For Their Significant Other, Over Looking The Logical Impact That It Have On A Person Mental And Physical Health. 1 reply
less romanticization of rape and shitty relationships. i think with yuri its not as rampant but its still nonetheless an issue, but especially with yaoi. this does kind of have to do with the fetishizing of wlw and mlm but either way, i wish there was less of it. im a lesbian btw. also, another issue is that they always have to fix SOME type of box...... reply
All I want is a good, satisfying plot with readable, relevant dialogue and good characterization. Even if that character has a shit attitude, I want to be able to say that "I don't agree with you or what you're doing, but I understand why you are the way you are". Also, I want characters who do terrible things to experience any sort of significant ...... reply
