What are your thoughts about gay romance?
I know people read a lot of yaoi/ yuri, but I want to know what you really think of it. Do you love the story because it's fiction but are disgusted about it in real life? Do you think it's beautiful or do you just read it for the smut?
I am asking this because I have met people who had contrary opinions about yaoi/ yuri in fiction and real life (I know, it's weird) ( ̄へ ̄) I don't know how anyone could have that thought, though #-.-)
I read yaoi for the same reasons that many people have listed above, a few being that it's generally meant for mature audiences and thus the plotlines are more realistic and enjoyable to me. There's also a lot more smut, which adds a realistic dimension because sex is a very normal and natural aspect in most adult relationships. However, I do belie...... reply
PS. If you don't want to read the long reply, with bits of sarcasm, julp to last paragraph.
PPS. Yes, I'm putting PS's on top, and no, it's not post script but prescript. xD
Long ago(Since this is about stories xD), I read lots of "normal" romance stories, you know, the love between a man and woman, even though I'm gay. (Please refrain from se...... 1 reply
I appreciate how this question is worded. There was another question on here a while back that was sort of similar, but had really rude connotations, so I really appreciate this question.
I'm a gay myself, so I enjoy gay romance quite a bit. I've actually recently found out that instead of pansexual, I'm actually probably just a lesbian. That sai...... 1 reply
I'm cool with it. Love is love. I have a step brother who's gay and he also has a boyfriend. He introduced his boyfriend to us (my parents, my four brothers n my four sisters). I mean, I was cool with it. Me and my family are Muslims so I would understand that they would feel weird or uncomfortable. My fudanshi brother is ok with it though, he is v...... 1 reply
To be in love and reciprocate that love is the most amazing feeling whether its the same sex or opposite. I think romance between two consenting individuals is pure happiness. Life is dificult and you go through a range of emotions. Having someone there with you during the best and worst times in your life is a gift we all take for granted. I YAOI...... reply
I read Yaoi, Yuri and "normal" Romance. I like it when it´s "soft" and when it´s "smut" (more the "smut" ones). Mangas in general are beautiful. I like the drawing, to be moved into another world and a lof of other things, too.
Of all these genres I love Yaoi the most (I think I´m a Fujoshi).
I don´t have a problem with gays or lesbians. I hav...... reply
I read Yaoi, because after watching No 6. I became hooked on the great love stories and plot, and then plunged down the rabbit hole, so to speak. No pun intended..
I used to read Shoujo and I still go back to some of my old favourites now and again, and there are some iconic ones that will forever live down in memory.. Haou Airen.. I mean really, ...... 1 reply
Because I'm asexual, I have issues with women being in romantic or sexual situations. It's like I can see myself projected through anything that has tits & I tell her to go sit in a corner & just watch. That means het & yuri do nothing for me but create an uncomfortable atmosphere. On top of that, Het is so common it's boring. I actually had a pret...... reply
I read it for the romance and the smut, and since there's a large variety of stories now, I enjoy learning the authors' experiences from them.
I love yaoi but I don't really care about gay people in real life, it's none of my business. My fantasies stay in my head. : ) reply
