Change the audiences' mindsets, and it forces authors to either change with them or lose their market. Conscious consumerism is both spreading extremely quickly and is most prevalent in the same groups of people that read yaoi/bl. Certainly, not every culture is on the same page when it comes to such things. We cannot always treat subjects from other cultures as if they are on the same standards as ours.
