The evolution of a fujoshi/fudanshi
Lately I'm more and more attracted to stories with a twisted and dark plot, wich is a bit strange for me... not that I'm regretting it one bit. (^_^) But is it normal for someone that reads yaoi to become attracted to twisted stories ? How about you guys, how did you change after reading yaoi for some years ?
It's funny- I'd say the opposite has happened to me. Back when I was really into yaoi, I admit, I liked a lot of the "dark, twisted stuff," as you put it. But now? Now I just want mellow, interesting and/or cute plots. I used to like aggressive semes, but then after finishing Gravitation (vague spoilers here), I found I don't actually like um........ reply
I'm a fujoshi who likes dark themes and complex characters. I have to balance the darkness with lighter stories afterwards. I find that yaoi (some, not all) are closer to who I really am internally (long story) and I am a sucker for a man with a dark side who is (probably ) a sadist (non-abusive. ) I rarely find my happy reading spots outside of y...... reply
At first I like bdsm fluffy cute and beautiful yaoi and really can't handled bara, shota, hardcore bdsm type, mind breaking and furry.....but after few years of reading yaoi.....I evolvedᕙ(Ծ▂Ծ‶)ᕗ......I can handled all that I can't before and some I enjoyed read it too......oh except for furry(not include omegaverse pendulum manga, that's one...... reply

That same thing definitely happened to me(I'm a fudanshi, so it may be slightly different). After awhile I just got sick of all the fluffy crap. I mean, don't get me wrong, I still love that stuff, but after awhile it's nice to see something real, fresh, and fucked up. Yaoi drawings are getting better and better, they look more realistic everyday, ...... reply
I think that's the process for almost everyone... I started with simple, fluff and cute things like eleven years ago, and grown to like reeeeeally dark and twisted things. They just seem to me more... realistic in a way. More bearable than all those sparkles with alien-size eyes. Bc they tell complicated and crude stories that not always end well, ...... 2 reply
I don't think it's normal, it all comes down to taste. I've talked to some people who've been reading yaoi for years, but won't touch a Harada work. It's just like music genres and such. We all know what pop music is gonna sound like but we might not want to listen to it. Ive been reading yaoi forever, and love all kinds, especially the wicked one...... reply
