I have a simple reason of reading yaoi; I do not care of staring tits and pussies on my screen, I find majority of shoujo manga grills so annoying that I'd rip my hair off before making it to the end of the story. Hawt male bodies my way   reply

I like reading yaoi because I enjoy seeing two males fall in love with each other no matter what obstacles they may face. Homo couples tend to experience greater hardships than your average hetero couple but being in a relationship is hard either way. On other days, I just read yaoi for the porn because it is a guilty pleasure of mine to read about......   reply

Everyone, thank you for your answers. They're all extremely well-thought, interesting and succeed to put into words a lot of feelings I could not even express myself (I'm terrible at english and at organizing my thoughts sorry) but that are so spot on! And a lot of the explanation you gave made me understand the whole situation better. I definitely......   1 reply

To be honest I don't know. I just like it. Maybe even more than shoujo. It's my hobby. My life. Seriously I don't know how I could describe it (〜 ̄△ ̄)〜 And some are better than normal porn so.... ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭   reply

I would like to answer your question to the best of my ability, but I might add on to this answer later on if I feel that I haven't answered this question completely. I am a Fudanshi, and am convinced that I am; for the most part, gay. I always wondered growing up, why I wasn't interested in traditionally boyish activities like outdoor games. I wa......   reply

Alright, this is gunna be a bit long, but hopefully I can answer some of your questions. I'm physically female, although I do have alot of confusion that comes from my gender. I considered myself pansexual for a long time, but I'm honestly not even sure of that anymore. I read yaoi and yuri, but like you, I find that I get more out of reading yao......   1 reply

i read yaoi because i'm attracted to boys. also, as a trans male (only mentioning this because it's relevant to my explanation) i find it very hard to identify with female characters. the generic everyday shoujo manga just isn't fun for me to read. i can't stand the archetypes, the drama, and all that junk. of course fetishizing REAL GAY PEOPLE is ......   reply

Tbh it's just refreshing and nice to see males being sensitive and actually having emotions on any kind of media, to me it's just about enjoying a story and admiring the nice art that comes with it. I don't feel I sexualize anyone by doing that, I don't fantasize or harass people I know irl or anything. If people aren't uncomfortable with shipping ......   reply

I recently asked myself that too and I found the answer when I swapped the demographic with others I'm into and the answer is no. I love shoujo, josei, shounen, psychological and horror stories, movies etc but there is a difference between these mediums and reality. BL is interesting because the stakes are higher. In m x f romance stories a faile......   reply

I also agree with your point on women in media and the preference for men. I don't hate when women are love interests, I hate it when they are 2D characters. Same goes for men, because it happens too, that it's the guy the one who is the love interest and is a 2d person. I don't like shojo, jousei or hentai, and when shonen has obvious romance, I d......   reply
