I fully know two languages which are English and Spanish. I started teaching myself Korean, Thai, and Japanese. I understand a lot more now but not good enough to have a conversation. The one I've advance more is Korean since I listen to korean music and I also watch a lot of dramas. Same goes for Thai since I watch a lot of BL series. For this two I don't really need eng subs I can understand most of what they're saying. This helps a lot since you see how they use certain words and slang. It's good to watch shows with subs since you can remember long sentences and use them in the future but for example in Korean is never the same because it depends to who you're talking to.
