How I got immersed in kpop~

Old Mout Cider Old Mout Cider 2017-11-06 10:32:15 About loving kpop
First of all I think the fact that I was into anime and manga definitely had a role to play since I was more openminded and had more acceptance for Asian related content from the start. I liked quite a lot of anime openings despite the language barrier and enjoyed some jrock now and then (later I found that a few openings were actually sung by Korean artists like BOA or groups like TVXQ!!!). The fact that some idols looked as pretty as anime characters was also very appealing to me from the visual point of view (some people don't like how kidols look but I mean like..how?). So yes I think that if you are into anime & manga you will most certainly like kpop too (the holy trinity) (=・ω・=)
So I've been listening to some kpop songs from a few artists (Hyuna, SNSD, Super Junior, 4Minute, BigBang, Beast, Trouble Maker) since 2012 when I made an obsession for the girl who appeared in Gangnam Style aka Hyuna but I wasn't deeply into it...I genuinely just liked the songs cause they were cool but I didn't know anything at all about the groups themselves apart from the fact they all looked pretty and danced cool lol (〜 ̄△ ̄)〜
Then I kinda forgot about those songs in Korean till a few years later when I stumbled in some way upon a BTS video called Danger and the rest is history. They were an underrated group back then, but for some reason they made me want to know more about kpop and them unlike in the past when I didn't have so much interest in it. The first comeback I experienced was I need You and in less than a month I knew a lot already about the kpop industry and how things work.
In the present I am still an ARMY because I can't seem to connect with any other group in the way I do with BTS which seems to have smth almost magical and unexplained that simply draws you in. Also I happen to like all their songs a bit too much + love all the members equally although I have a bias (while in other groups I may not like all songs or all the members).
Of course I still listen to a lot of other groups that also make good music: EXID, Oh My Girl, DreamCatcher, Red Velvet, WJSN, AOA, Stellar, Girl's Day, Tara, f(x), Twice, GFriend, Berry Good, CLC, I.O.I, Loona, Sistar, Apink. For boy groups my favorites would be: BTS (if weren't for them I would be in a gg fandom for sure), VIXX, Infinite, NCT, Ft Island, BAP. As for solo artists I really like Chungha, IU, Taeyeon, Ailee, Luna, Jay Park, Hyuna, Sunmi... My ultimate female and male bias would be Park Jimin from BTS and Qri from T-ara~
