(I don't know if this topic was discussed before, I haven't seen any posts about it but if there are, please link me up.)
I want to hear your thoughts/opinions about Omegaverse as an entire genre (stereotypical omega/alpha, mpreg).
I tend to stay away from it but a few days ago I've left a comment (a few other people too) on an OV manga about how I didn't like the story because there was rape in it, and somehow we pissed off an entire comment section, all of them coming with the excuse of "it's omegaverse, there is always rape in it, what did you expect, stop complaining" and ngl I've been bothered by that mentality a lot.
So tell me your opinions on why is it wrong or... "why not".
I would like to hear more from actual mlm/trans men rather than straight cis girls but it's fine for everyone to say what they think.
I actually kinda like omega verse because it remind me of society. Like omegas are girls (male too) and i thing is inspired by how some woman’s are treated. Like in someplaces you are worth shit if you never get married, Is harder for you to get a job, people look down on you, sexual harassment, etc.
So is often to see girls in those situation so...... reply
It’s definitely not right to say that rape is okay.
Just because of “pheromones” characters are given the go-ahead to rape each other and it’s gotten so normal in a/b/o that people don’t even question it anymore. I was reading an omega verse story a while ago and the alpha raped the omega, no questions asked, but NOBODY and I mean nobod...... reply
Exactly, i saw this omegaverse that was exactly like megumi and tsumgi, execpt really rushed and bad, and i commented on how they just skimmed past the rape like it never happened and they just fell in love right after, and people just gave an excuse that "its an omegaverse, rape happens" also the omega was in heat excuse, honestly i feel like the ...... reply
That why I don't read omegaverse anymore it just doesn't sit right with me. Most of the times it's either the heat or rape or heat that leads to rape.
1) the seme with extreme heat and the uke has to bear it or 2) the uke gets into heat and the seme can't control it. Haven't seen much consensual stuff and ah the omega is always in danger of rape s...... reply
You are completely fine to think they are disgusting or wrong I personally also think they are disgusting and I feel like people only think it's okay simply cause it's fiction and so who cares if it's rape or that all the poor omegas get sexually assaulted constantly just because of the smell they give off "oh but it's love" if the Omega is screami...... reply
Uh definitely wrong to normalize rape no matter the genre. And the entire genre is problematic. It’s gay porn that uses heteronormative roles to market to women. It normalizes rape. It pushes sexist stereotypes for women (that btw shouldn’t exist at all) on gay men.
And the thing is they could have made a meaningful story about sexisms affect ...... 2 reply
