I dropped out of college for 4 years

Senbazuru Senbazuru 2018-04-12 18:54:24 About dropped out of college
I went to college for 3 semesters following high school then dropped out for 4 years. I was a fine art major, but I couldn't stand the drawing/ painting instructor. The second time around I was more focused on learning, plus the perfect professor for me took over the drawing/painting classes. I got a BA in fine art (my college didn't have BFA for some reason, even though no real difference). Then a few years later I got sick and the meds make my hands shake, so I can't paint or draw like I want. I'm better than I was first, but only in regard to my hands shaking. Now I have other problems. Last summer I found out that I have psoriatic arthritis too (fibromyalgia was the first big illness affecting my art) and can't take the top meds for it. In other words, my degree became pointless. I was so proud that I got it, even though I didn't get a great job after college. I was happy with what I learned that improved my art. Once I couldn't even do art on the side, it felt like such a waste. All my hard work down the drain.
The past few years I've told people to only go to college, if there is something that you want which requires a degree. It's become too expensive to go for the "college experience". Plus it might have meant a good job back in the eighties, but now it is so common that I have known people with degrees who worked in a drive-thru. Honestly, the people that I knew who became something that only requires a 2 year degree, make more money than anyone else I know personally. It's a hard job sometimes, like plumber, etc. however they make a decent wage. It's ridiculous, but reality. The only people who think having a college degree means having a decent paying job are ones who don't have one. It's usually not worth the 10 or more years of paying off student loans, unless it's a particular job that requires a college degree. ヽ(`Д´)ノ
