Anyone feel like they're outgrowing yaoi manga?
I used to read so much yaoi everyday, obsessively. But these days I find myself rolling my eyes and rushing through the chapters to finish them quickly, or I'll just stop reading. Recently I tried rereading one of my favorite shounen ai manga and I wish I hadn't. I think it has largely to do with exposure to a lot of other literature. Man, and I thought I was going to be reading yaoi all my life.
I felt that way for a month or two and then I started reading a crap ton of manhwas and webtoons. I feel like i've kind of out grown some of the oneshot type stories for the most part, now I really love falling in love with the characters personalities and watching their love/stories unfold. If anyone is looking for some good bl webtoons/manhwas I ...... 1 reply
Tastes always changed. As for me I once thought I was bored with yaoi but turns out I wasn't. Instead I get bored of it for a while and I go days without reading anything then I come back and start binge reading. Also my tastes have shifted towards shounen ai webtoons. reply
YEAAA SAME BRO. i rolled my eyes when all they do is sex like
They fight=sex
Confession=sex
I hate you= sex
No=yes
LIKE IS CONSENT NOT A WORD IN YO DICTIONARY?!?
But i still do love some sweet sweet yaoi
Some hard yaoi scenes are good sometimes but when both parties are cool with it and love eachother (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ reply
Oh I see what you mean! Maybe it's just that you like reading yaoi that is well written! Like after reading a lot of the same stuff & literature your standards have possibly been raised up! 1 reply
Hahaha! I used to think that a long time ago. After reading yaoi for so many years, I realized that I have phases where I'm obsessively reading it and try to find really good ones, then I stop reading for a while. It became a cycle. I'm currently in my obsessive phase right now.
My advice is to try taking a break from reading yaoi---COLD TURKEY. Tr...... reply
sortaa? i've been reading more normal manges like adventure, fantasy, slice or life, etc. i havent really found much good ones that arent DJs since i try to stay away from them since they always get my hopes up and get me interested or even more interested than i am lol. and eve when i try to reread my favorite yaoi's and expect to find good ones, ...... 1 reply
I did, but like everything I got bored, stopped, after a while then came back. It's like the cool of season, some I get way too into, or not. It's always after reading psych for me, I cool off after everything then come back when most of the psych from the manga wears off. Lol, like ripping a bandage 2 reply
I agree, i thought my love for yaoi manga will never die or be lessen but recently i've stopped reading them, i dont feel interested enough. All they do is fuck eack other right from the 1st chp. This isnt exciting anymore for me. Now i only read yaoi fanfictions and manhwa/webtoon only if it has a sensible plot which is hard to find. reply
I can't say that I outgrew it, but more that as I've gotten older, I've become more picky about what I read. I am more interested in BL manhwa and manhua these days. I am also more interested in BL novels, actually this is what I am most interested in right now. 2 reply
Honestly i thought I outgrew it too. But I found some good manga/manhwa/manhua's, and I'm hooked on the stories. There's a lot of trash stories and your tastes mature over time so trying to reread things you used to like seems like a waste of time. There's good yaoi manga with that golden plot it just depends there's more trash than gold that's for...... reply
