Erwin and Levi are not canonically gay. Levi was devoted to and trusting of Erwin as a commander. He wants so badly to fufil his promise of killing the Beast because he told Erwin to give up on his dream for the sake of humanity and fufiling that promise means Erwins death was not in vein.
