I totally feel you on this, I hate the romanticizing of rape / non con in some Yaoi. A lot of younger or more immature fans support those kinds of toxic relationships in the book, and even if it's just a manga, to me it normalizes those things for the fans especially younger ones who may not know better. Like everyone just passes it off as cute, an......   reply

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH THE RAPE SHIT! People are like "it's not real" and "it's just a story," but it should never be okay, even a story! If you become accepting to it in a fictional situation, you'll probably be unconciously drawn to think it's not as bad IRL. Another trope I'm not into is the Alpha/Omega universe. It makes me uncomfortable that peo......   reply

the rapey scene is one, another i hate is the bullying one. I don't get the logic at all, unless they are both S and Ms each i guess ... but if somebody who hates me turns around and loves me, i would be questioning the guy's mental health or whether he is scheming. Just "real life" thoughts   1 reply

I don't know if I would call it a trope, but there is a certain convention in yaoi that uke and seme status is 'fixed'. That is to say permanent. I'll admit it makes for easier story writing and of course that pays the bills if you're a mangaka. But that ain't real life. People can and do change roles. Sometimes occasionally, sometimes permanently.......   1 reply

Hmm, there's like so many yaoi cliche that's reading it gets annoying after awhile lol. Although one thing I kinda dislike is when a character is so persistent on making another fall for them, that they use methods to achieve that. That non-consent shit, bothers me. (Unlesss it's like a 'major' part of the plot) Whats worse is that one of them cav......   reply

i hate the tsundere or dumb type of seme the types of tsunderes that clearly like the person, have sex with them then avoid talking to them after the other person clearly shows their feelings back just because they're embarrassed or just a coward. and the manly, air-headed dumb seme they're way too forceful, and because they're dumb they don't rea......   1 reply

The "rape" trope which everyone has mentioned. Insta-love trope. And honestly, I don't know why some people like it, but the "bullying" trope. If the bully apologizes and sincerely tries to make up for all the mistreatment, then I'm fine with it. But some mangas think that bullying = love. Like what? If someone bullied me, ridiculed me, and destr......   reply

It really Irks me when the characters are just kind of 'Suddenly in love'. You know when there's little to no real positive interaction in between them and 0 relationship development but suddenly they're all over eachother? Really doodles my noodles.   1 reply
