what do you fujoshi and fudanshi think of fifty shades of grey?
Okay, the question might have been coming a bit late now...but last year and maybe still now, this novel has really made a big fuzz among teenagers and young adults, and all because of the erotic acts and storylime, porn, s&m, etc... But in my case, as a proud fan of smutty yaoi, i...didn't feel anything readig this book, i didn't even finish it...even though all my non-fujoshi friends get all horny and excited just by reading one paragraph. So, If you guys had somehow feel the same way, those are my questions: 1) did you feel like a total stranger when your friends were all weirdly horny about this novel and not you? 2) did you feel a bit guilty knowing that what you read is far beyond erotism? ( Yaoi smutt i mean) Lol ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
Oh my god I felt the same way. Honestly it was fairly erotic, for romance type novels. In yaoi we just see the erotic images while we read (and go bananas for it). As far as the BDSM, it was sub par, likely due to the fact that yaoi in this particular sub-genre often depict muuuuuuch more explicit acts and scenarios. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

When I was starting it I was really curious because one half was in love with everything in this book and the other half hated it, but I'm in the middle, more in the other group. xD I don't like trashing something I didn't see or read so I decided to try it and it seemed fun but only if you read it without paying attention to the details otherwise ...... reply
A few years ago when it first got really popular, I remember the fandom I was in on Tumblr at the time started hating it. I'd see posts about the goddess or weird sex lines, and the tampon scenes. I tried to read it, but just couldn't get into it. I'm very neutral on it. I felt like a stranger in that sense, since most people either hate it or love...... 1 reply
50 Shades makes me violently angry. Its portrayal of the BDSM scene is so very, very WRONG! Anastasia spends the entire series trying to fix Mr. Grey. I have loads more to say, but I won't go into here. If you want to read a well written series on the BDSM scene, then read the Deviations series by Chris Owen and Jodi Payne. It's a healthy represen...... 1 reply
Well, most of my friends are too perverted to have taken 50 Shades seriously (if that makes sense). I think you have to be pretty vanilla or inexperienced to be turned on by that. Additionally, I think it's poorly written and the characters are unlikeable. But I enjoyed it when people made fun of the book. I think I've read the whole ting through b...... reply
Now as a yaoi fangirl I branched out and read more gay romance books as well. My
Kindle is chalked full of them so reading these types of books aren't a big deal to me at
least. But I read a few paragraphs of this book and was so irritated that so many
people got all hot and bothered by the book. Luckily my friends shared the same
irritation to ...... reply
