I can't still process that you guys exist and i'm still shocked, like what? If you're going to use Japanese in your sentences un-ironically, can you just learn the whole sentence in Japanese like- what is "arigathanks" like what? First of all it's "Arigato/ありがと" and of course there are still other Asian countries, other than Korea and Japan. There's also Central Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and Western Asia.
In my own opinion, I think its not offensive. They might be even joking around when they said that, no need to start something because of it. Its alright if they say it as long as they arent hurting anybody.
