TW: What do you guys think about fictional rape?
There are A LOT of yaoi mangas that use the rape card unnecessarily, and when you call people out for supporting it even if "it's fiction" as some of them say they, you get kicked in the butt. Some of them said "we know it's bad but we just imagine it as if it SM play". Like wtf?? One even said "I don't support it irl but it's fiction so who cares what happens?". I just...I can't. I don't even know what to think. It's been bothering me all day.
My problem is the way its portrayed. If its shown as a serious topic, then so be it, as long as the author obviously puts warnings for these things and portrays them the right way. But when BL use rape as a plot device to get the main characters together, it desensitizes the readers, and they begin to view it much less seriously then they should. A...... 1 reply
As long as the story it's in clearly shows it's unacceptable and that the rapist is far beyond a shitty person for doing it, then it's fine. I don’t think we should read romances or dramas where the protagonist gets casually sexually assaulted and no one batts and eye. Unless there’s a reason for sexual assault to occur (not as a ...... reply
Rape is genuinely torture. I wish it upon no-one. Fictional rape is just mocking what really happens in the world and the authors basically sexualize it. You'd need to be hella self aware to be able to point out fictional rape because how much the authors write it as off as "intimacy". And that itself is fucked.
