For starters, if you wanted to come up with something that actually portrays mlm people and mlm relationships well, step one would be to not try and make something that falls along the lines of or is similar to yaoi. i think not just a compelling story but mainly compelling characters. and also more interesting and diverse character designs, alot of bl designs is copy and paste nowadays. and by writting more compelling and interestesting characters you can do more for the character design.
