China has always valued sons over daughters. But now, since there are way more men than women due to them abandoning or killing their daughters, men are having more trouble finding wives. And, some of them expect their future wives to babysit them and do everything, take care of all the men in their family, which turns away women even more. Also, I think it's cruel for Chinese people to call women reaching or over 30 years old "leftover" or "undesirable" women.

I think a lot of people prefer sons over daughters since they're seen as more profitable. "Boys are stronger, bring honor on the family, bring wealth into the family." whereas "Girls marry out, are not as strong." However, I do not see gender as a deciding factor in which child I love more.
