Thoughts on calling Male omega's who give birth, Mom?
Does anyone else dislike that in a number of omegaverse yaoi, male omega's who give birth are called Mom? As opposed to being called Dad, Father, etc.
What are you all's thoughts on this? I've just been wondering if anyone else feels the same way or not... because it low-key makes me feel uncomfortable tbh and I've never really seen comments about this particular subject myself. So I wanted to ask.
it makes me /extremely/ uncomofortable. i dont mean to be sensitive but omegas are already feminized enough and it makes me even more uncomfortable reply
Yeah I also think it’s weird. Very heteronormative me thinks. That’s lowkey why I avoid omegaverse (also because the lack of consent in so many of them gives me the icks).
But back to the Mom Dad thing, I just think it’s weird how a lot of mlm relationships in manwhas and stuff usually have to have specific roles (i.e. Mom and Dad, or the big...... 1 reply
I lack words to express how disgusting this makes me feel. Feminization of characters who clearly identify as male is just not okay. Call me a party pooper or whatever, but I find this insulting. Please treat men as men. Regardless of whether they have an uterus and can bear a child or not. Same-sex couples have children IRL all the time just fine ...... 5 reply
Omegaverse just pushes the heteronormative ideas straight people have of gay couples. No wonder young fujos read tons of omegaverse and grow up thinking there's a mom and a dad in a gay relationship. Both of them are dads. That's it reply
You're right to think that, it's invalidating as hell, and I'm glad you're thinking critically about what you're reading and all, but... God damn did you only just barely scratch the surface. Like, you've picked out a pebble in a sea of boulders.
Keep the gears turning, there's *plenty* more bullshit in omegaverse where that came from. 1 reply
I just comprehended it with the logic that the one that gives birth, the maternal donor,is usually called the mother so is it that big of an issue? tbh im not that bigga fan of some parts of "the" universe itself and its also fictional so why go so deep into it? reply
As others have said, very uncomfortable.
Omegaverse is super heteronormative itself, with Omegas just being men that can give birth (so.... women? Since the defining difference between men and women is that women can give birth?).
Calling the Omega Mama/Mom/etc just taking it to the next level. The definition of mother is a woman in relation to ...... 2 reply
