Just some things that you don't like when reading a historical manhwa/Ga/hua
I'm gonna start : In manhwas where the Mc reincarnated as the villainess/ an extra (anything, but the FL of the novel), I really hate it when they say shit like "he can't like me" "he's meant to be with the FL". I get where they're coming from, but it's lowkey disrespectful to the ML. He likes her and all (he confessed, show her how much he appreciates her etc) and she just invalidate his emotions "because it's not meant to be". Unless that's the setting of the story (like she can't change her fate), I find that so annoying.
Biggest pet peeve in historical romance is the power imbalance between the couples. For example there is this webtoon called I stole the male lead's first night. Where the duke takes advantage of the FL when she was drunk. And since he is in a higher position than her, he constantly threatens her into marrying him. omg I totally agree with your point. I also hate when they deviate from historical attire just to throw in a swimsuit scene. Like I don't understand why these people wear gowns that are full length and then out of nowhere they decide to wear extremely revealing modern swimwear not suited to their 'time'. when the FL is about to do something important, but the ML suddenly appears out of nowhere to interrupt her and she ends up delaying her plan. it's so frustrating, but props to FLs who are patient when this event occurs reply
