I was once housesitting for someone and cooked a pizza in their oven, then totally forgot about it. I opened the oven door to a plume of smoke and hurried to ventilate the kitchen, but the damage was already done. I set off the overly complicated smoke alarm and ended up having to call to get the alarm code to turn it off. This led to many months of them jokingly reminding me to not forget my food if I decided to cook in their kitchen...
