Just a question for fellow writers and artists
Why do we put our Ocs through so much pain? Like I know we could be representing real-world problems and stuff but GODDAMN WE NEED TO GET OUR CHARACTERS AWAY FROM US- don't even get me started on angst and character death. why do we even make that sad shit ?
Majority of the artists and writers on here are teenagers, and teenagers like being edgy. That's the main reason 5/10 of their original characters are alternative, have childhood trauma or some other depressing shit. 1 reply
thats is such a good question, its because i put myself in the characters at times. also, if you didn't know, i love angst, its the reason i breathe, so that sums it up reply
I started giving my characters more tragic backstories, when I wanted to give them more depth and prevent them from being 1 dimensional.
I ended up overdoing it way too much with giving characters tragic backstories.
Eventually I realized there are other ways to give my characters more depth, than just giving every single oc a tragic backstory....... reply
It depends on the kind of story you are to tell, plus there's the genre to consider. But yeah, I am also guilty of putting my characters on despairing situations ( ̄∇ ̄") reply
