Years later I’m still not sure if Yuuri and Viktor are actually a couple by the end of the series or not, so does anyone know if the author/director/whatever confirmed it? I thought it was obvious that they are for so long but recently someone said that in fact the author/whatever confirmed that they are not together and that the rings thing is just a customary thing from Russia that friends do and it honestly broke my heart!! I thought they were like <<officially>> together. ╥﹏╥ So does anyone know?

no they're literally together the animators just made it as subtle as possible like exchanging rings and that hug/kiss near the end are so obvious queercoding without plainly stating the status of their relationship 1 reply
Kubo, the creator of the show, is a bit vague about it and honestly, it all boils down if you think of the story as queerbaiting or just subtext. We aren't toddlers, things don't need to be in our face for us to understand what it actually means. After some light googling, I found some quotes worth reading.
