Am I the only one who doesn’t get why bl authors feel the need to add in toxicity and r@pe? Like bro Idk why so many manhwas and mangas like that exist. Is it so hard to make a couple with a healthy relationship? I’m honestly thinking about taking a break from bl but I can’t find an good straight manhwas/ mangas to get into. Some authors need to chill out fr. Lol I think I’m gonna start reading more action/horror cause I’m tired of it
Because it sells . If people stop reading them then authors would stop writing stories with problematic tropes but it sells and these authors gain popularity too . So why won't they ? I'm not only talking about BL I'm talking about all genres. reply
No because why does it it always have to be toxic? Can't they be happy healthy and gay? Their hardly ever all three. But yeah just read a shounen-ai or a shounen-ai mixed with an action. reply
I think it's because there's often a demand for fictional toxicity and unhealthy relationships. It's not just BL, btw, I've seen a lot of it in shoujo manga as well. Not as much in GL, though. reply

Same reason they make most straight relationships toxic in media by adding profuse amounts of cheating, same reason they fetishize lesbian romances in the media, same reason they vilify bisexual characters in movies. Its just how it is, and the bl genre is not immune to this unreal toxication.

You want straight manga reccs? I would recommend The Virgin Witch and Over Cumming writer's block (the title's a bit off-putting, but it's good I swear). Both have smut, but it's pretty healthy and the relationships are cute. Also, you should read isekai, they're in the Shoujo section and they're pretty good. lol, I started to avoid as much as possible those type of bls but if you need, I recommend Whose Baby is it? It's amazing and it has a healthy relationship (it's also a slow burn but anyways ) reply
