Australia is in my "Never go to" list
In Australia there is a plant called the Gympie-Gympie which has such a severe sting that horses who brush against it throw themselves off cliffs because they’d rather die than continue to experience the pain.
I mean, as somebody living in Australia, as long as you don't go on hikes and stick to the correct path (instead of unpaved paths), the chances of coming across that plant is extremely zero. Stick to the urban areas or tourist areas which have dedicated pathways which are often cleared out and such. reply
It’s also called the suicide plant and is reported to feel like hot acid has been poured on you as you are being electrocuted.
The sting can last for months and more and the hairs can shed like a cat so don’t get close.
I used to hear stories about a poor guy who used it as a toilet wipe but idk if that’s just a legend or not. 1 reply
