Generization is not a valid statement

NightmareWhisper NightmareWhisper 2021-06-03 12:16:28 About have a shower thought
I saw this Tiktok video where this person was saying that when women say "All men suck" just because she has met some bad guys is a valid statement and that even though she knows that its not all men it is still ok for her to say that.
Uh No the fuck its not. Sorry not sorry. Please stop putting all people in a goddamn box and generalizing people. Because what they are doing is allowing that kind of behavior. If it is ok for women to do it then it will be ok for men to say "all women are sluts." "All women are stupider than men." "All women cheat." "All women are gold diggers." "All women like bad boys and men who treat her bad." Ect just because they had a bad experience with some women. And lets not stop there. It will be ok for people to say "All black people are criminals." "All black people dumb." "All black people can't speak properly." "All black men are dangerous." "All black people are ghetto and loud." "All black people like rap" Just because they met some black people who are like that. Or "all Asians are smart" "All Asians eat cats and dogs" "All Hispanic people are drug dealers." "All white people are racist." "All Muslims are terrorists." "All Indians are scammers." It is horrible and that is not valid statement. I don’t care how many bad people you met. And no it won't be ok just for women to do it. If they can do it so can everyone else. Its the same damn thing no matter who does it. There will always be a few bad apples that is just how life is but there is NO excuse to stereotype and generalize people. I am done with my Ted Talk

Although i don't agree with the concept of generization, i do think that there are different levels of severity to it. As a black person who has dealt with many racial attacks, I tend to vent out my suppressed anger through statements like "white people crazy asf" in a ~relatively~ humourous manner. I obviously know not all white people act the same, but i am entitled to say things like that as it isn't damaging to them - systemically, i have no power over them. but in terms of reinforcing harmful and baseless stereotypes like the ones you mentioned, i agree with you wholeheartedly. i think it's the addition of "all" in those statements that make them so problematic. saying things like "why do men _____" is different to "why do all men ____" - one statement unfairly points fingers and the other clearly only applies to one sector of menbut i don't think statements like that can be used for minority groups,,, there's something microaggressive about saying "why do Asians ____" coming from a person who isn't Asian.,..stop this is getting complex sorry about the long ass reply omfg just know that I AGREE
