Today I spoke to an old friend and for some reason they asked me if I'm pro or against lgbtq+. Now, obviously I said I'm pro but their next question was if I'm from the community or just an ally.. I panicked and said *after some suspicious seconds of silence* that I'm not part of the community and now I kind of overthink it. After that they said they're totally pro for it so maybe I could've actually told them.. it would've been nice to have a friend who may also be lgbtq+ or just an ally.
I'm not feeling safe whatsoever so maybe that was a good thing to do.. even though every time these questions are asked I lost my skills of lying but anyways. How was your day?
I know coming out seems scary but... You know, it's actually really nice when you find someone who's either an ally or a part of the community you can talk to... I was always super scared of telling people I was bisexual then a guy from my class came out as gay and most people started avoiding him, especially the guys. Its ok! Coming out is difficult but once you do it you literally feel so free and not tied down by that. If they are pro lgbt you can come out to them safely now. I'm sure they will understand why you didn't tell them and you will probably become closer after because telling someone you are part of the community is a big deal and shows you trust th...... 2 reply
