I need your opinion :)
So I've only been here for around 9 months. I have never experienced this type of situation before so I was a bit baffled. Before I tell you this lemme just say I am not personally black, I am Hispanic, I also fully support BLM and many other movements. I was reading a manhwa when I suddenly see the n-word being used by an (Asian) character. Now I don't know If this is common or if maybe I overreacted because I posted a topic on how shocked I was and said that I don't think that was necessary or right even if the translator was a black person. But of course, got a negative reply as a result saying that "it's an illegal site" and that I should "stop obsessing over the n-word like it’s your whole identity". Now here's where your part comes in. Am I overreacting?
(Not threats not curse words but with facts and respectful thoughts cause that doesn't really seem to happen on this site cause it's just mostly dicks)
Now let me drop my 2 cents into this, as a black person, sure if the character, author, and translators are black, Who gives a shit? Not my issue, however, you were right for calling this out, unless the people replying, the translator, and the author were black, then you were right, even if you were wrong, its great that you at least tried! reply
There is legit no reason to put it in that story it's not an over reaction at all like you said even if the translator is black they could have either censored or changed it ._. reply
Uh no, you aren't. Jesus that's messed up, has the author addressed this in any way?
Edit: I checked the chapter where it was said and it doesn't even make any sense. Like there's millions of other synonyms. plus the dude he's saying it to isn't even black like wha-???? reply
There's really people out there saying "this is an illegal website, let me be racist in peace".
Edit: pretty sure this happened in Pumpkin Night too! But uh... Can't say if it's the author, or Perv and Proud (racist, transphobic and predatory scanlation team) being their usual disgusting selves. reply
I don't really know. I never experienced the BLM community or the situations that happened but i think it's not ok. I mean if it's old update like from 2018, 2019 or early 2020 update. yeah it's fine then bc at the time i think BLM community idk didn't much existed. But later in 2020 and in 2021 it's not fine anymore. 1 reply
